Understanding the challenge and running research to get answers
Challenge Analysis
From mid-2019, all acquired companies in Slovakia went under 100% ownership of COLAS and wanted to use just one single website, where they wanted to:
- present them as one experienced international company with a great future ahead.
- however, not forgeting the great history and achievements of those original, Slovakian ones.
- point out that they are focusing on road construction, but they have a wide portfolio range of other activities as well (various kinds of buildings, production halls, products, renting equipment, etc.).
- point out that they can handle anything from small, to a very large projects (main focus)
- covering the whole project life-cycle from planning till maintenance, including assistance with the whole administration parts.
Research
1 I collected information from websites of all acquired companies in Slovakia and their product brochures, offers, etc. I tried to understand the commonalities of Slovak portfolio and what
2 I did not forget on their own pages from different countries, mainly their home – French.
3 I carefully checked the main competitor's websites in the business segment, to see how they present themselves, what is the information architecture, design, etc.
02 RESULT

As always, I considered several alternatives. On Product and Solution pages, the top priority was to highlighting the product (of course), but also placing the references right next to it, making it look natural next to each other.

Lesson learned:
Never proceed further before the client confirms the existing iteration stage. If the response is not coming, push.
Solution works best when decisions are based on data, not individual opinions.
